Why Renault KWID is an all-round hatchback

Renault KWID has made its place in the Indian automobile market as an entry-level hatchback, with competition from the likes of Maruti Suzuki SPresso and Datsun RediGO. In fact, such has been the quality of KWID and its brand positioning that Maruti Suzuki has specifically launched the SPresso to counter the threat. The new KWID is loaded with many diverse Renault KWID specifications, making it worth your hard-earned money.

New Renault KWID specifications
Since Renault KWID was introduced to the Indian market, the first aspect to catch the fancy of its buyers was its muscular SUV-style design. It was the first small car to debut with such a design, and has sparked off a race between manufacturers since then. This year, the 2019 avatar of the Renault KWID has shown that beauty is more than skin deep.

Exterior styling
Muscular and futuristic styling with prominent curves can be seen on the outside, giving it a commanding road presence. Its brawny appearance is characterized by sleek DRLs and split headlamps. An unladen ground clearance of 184 mm, up from 180 mm of the previous year’s model, is available on the 2019 Renault KWID. This allows the vehicle to tide over bumps and potholes, and deliver smooth rides on most Indian roads.

Snazzy interiors
Talking about the interiors, there is adequate legroom for 5 passengers to sit comfortably. In terms of legroom, the KWID ranks better than the SPresso and RediGO, as it is the widest vehicle in its class. Piano black touches are visible on the central console and a leather-wrapped steering wheel has been provided. Seat upholstery fabric appears really snazzy in this car.

The 2019 KWID’s cabin has been upgraded to house a bigger touchscreen (20.32 cm) and an optional passenger airbag. A new tachometer is now visible in the digital instrument cluster. With dual-tone interiors and its futuristic styling, the KWID is already the best-looking car amongst its competitors.

Amongst other Renault KWID specifications, its boot space is noteworthy and also the largest in this class, at 279 L, which is larger than that of the SPresso (270 L) and the RediGO (222 L). In this segment, only the KWID comes with a reverse camera. On the road, both the SPresso and the KWID deliver a mileage of 21.7 kmpl (ARAI-certified).

Driving on the road
In terms of handling, the KWID certainly appears more sure-footed while riding at three-digit speeds, and vertical movement is also minimal. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki SPresso experiences more significant body roll due to its stance. While driving, all you need to do is build the revs, and you shall be able to appreciate the KWID’s zesty nature and engine responsiveness. Additionally, a shift to the BS6 unit will result in greater refinement than the current version.

Better dimensions as compared to its competitors make the new Renault KWID an excellent candidate in the current market. The KWID scores well in terms of boot space, allowing families to carry their luggage with ease on long trips. Design and features make the KWID an all-round hatchback.
